Towards more responsible purchasing practices within global supply chains


BILSPBILSP The Balkan Institute for Labour and Social Policy is a non-governmental, voluntary, independent, non-political and non-profit association established in September 2001.
The project objectives fully correspond to BILSP's mission in assisting the accession of Bulgaria to the European social space.

In order to achieve the fulfillment of its mission, BILSP emphasizes on building capacity for human resource development, and on achieving high level of social standards in the labour market through providing trainings, conducting social audits, making social and economic analysis and research, consultancy, etc.

BILSP has implemented a variety of projects in the sphere of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) where it has demonstrated a solid organizational, human and administrative capacity. Among them:

  • “Towards the building of the Bulgarian Apparel Industry as a leader in Corporate Social Responsibility”,
  • “Enabling Dialogue between Management and Employees”,
  • “National Round Table for Introducing Social Standards”,
  • trainings in implementing Codes of Conduct, including the concept of CSR into the business plans of SME (“Alternative Employment” project).

BILSP is accredited as an Independent External Monitor by the FLA (Fair Labour Association).
BILSP has a direct access to more than 40 highly qualified professionals and consultants with long-term experience in providing technical assistance, knowledge transfer and capacity building not only in Bulgaria but also in other developing countries.
